The sounds of NYC
When you walk around anywhere in
New York City, the most standard sounds you hear are from cars, passing by or accelerating,
cars going over man holes so there are occasional sounds of hard rubber hitting
the metals on the cover of man holes. Another sound that you commonly hear is
the sound of people slamming to close their car door and one last most notably
sound made by the cars are the annoying honking sounds that they make. Other
than that you can hear the sounds of someone’s footsteps and the louder ones
are when people wear heels. The occasional sounds of automatic doors opening up
and based on the sounds, you can tell that its pretty old, doors of stores
opening and closing with a slight ring of a bell whenever those doors open and
close. When the doors of some stores are open when
people come in or out of, you can hear the sound of music that is being played
inside the store.
When you walk around of course you
will hear people talking to their friends, and people’s dogs barking when they
see another dog that walks by. When the
wind blows, you can hear the slight swooshing sounds that it makes. Since this is New York City, there is always
construction going on somewhere and you are bond to hear it if you walk around
for an hour. You can hear the annoyingly loud sound of the machines doing
work. Another common loud sound to hear
are subway trains passing by, you can hear them coming from a mile away.
